Tips When Purchasing CBD Oil

Cannabidiol or better known as CBD has taken the health and wellness industry by storm. CBD is one of over 100 different cannabinoids that can be found in the cannabis plant family. Although this natural compound is part of the cannabis plant family, it does have some very different attributes when compared to its notorious cousin THC. CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it will not leave users feeling “high”, instead CBD consumers can enjoy the medicinal benefits that are tied to cannabis without any unwanted side effects. Because of these unique attributes more people are turning to CBD as their natural solution to various issues varying from anxiety to external joint pain. Unfortunately, this increase in demand has lead to a larger variance in quality. It is important to note that not all CBD is created equal, and you should always do your research prior to making any CBD purchase. In this article we will equip you with the tools you need to be able to distinguish quality products versus subpar ones.

Is CBD Legal?

First and foremost, CBD is indeed legal on the federal level thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill. The 2018 Farm Bill made CBD legal as long as it meets two simple guidelines. First the CBD must be derived from hemp, second the hemp plants used most contain less than 0.3% THC by weight to in compliance with federal guidelines. Although CBD is legal on the federal level, it is up to the specific states to see if they want to follow the most up to date Farm Bill. There are a couple of states such as South Dakota and Idaho who have not made CBD legal in their state, however the other states not mentioned have made CBD legal in their specific states.

Hemp Sourcing

One of the most important attributes to look for when purchasing any CBD product is where is the hemp grown and extracted. We urge consumers to look for brands who work with farms in the USA, as the standard for growing and cultivation is oftentimes higher than overseas. When you purchase CBD which is made from hemp plants grown here in the USA, you oftentimes do not have to worry about harsh heavy metals and pesticides which can contaminate soil. Bottom line is when it comes to CBD products always go with brands that use hemp grown in the USA.

Traceability Through Transparency

You want to look for brands that are transparent, meaning they outline all of their production processes and post all test results publicly for all consumers to view prior to making any purchases. Also we urge consumers to look for brands that have full traceability from seed to sale to ensure both safe and effective products. This will also help give you confidence knowing “what is on the label, is what is in the bottle”.

Testing

All CBD products should be third party laboratory tested to ensure both purity and potency. These lab results should be full panel, meaning they have cannabinoid potency testing, along with pesticide, microbial and heavy metal analysis as well. All test results should be up-to date within 18 months and should be done by ISO accredited laboratories. If your current CBD products don’t have third party laboratory testing simply toss them out, the industry is too competitive to settle.

Different Product Types for Different Results

Before you browse the marketplace, you first must ask yourself, what are you trying to get out of CBD use. If you are using CBD to help with internal issues such as anxiety or auto immune deficiencies, then we would recommend going with a CBD product such as CBD oil tinctures or CBD softgels. If you are planning to use CBD products to help with external issues related to pain and inflammation we would recommend going with a CBD topical products such as a CBD balm or CBD massage oil. At the end of the day it is important to note that CBD is not a one-size fits all model and CBD can effect everyone differently.

We hope this article is beneficial in your search for the right CBD product meant just for you!
